The World of Digital DJ’s

The world of a DJ has been significantly altered by the introduction of digitalized DJ systems, creating a different, technologically assisted approach to the art of mixing. Digital DJ technology, such as the M-Audio Torq Xponent, has the capability to allow a DJ to control every aspect of their sound and create a more sophisticated way in which they choose to play their music MP3’s.

Would the Closure of Illegal Music Sites Signal the End of MP4’s?

CS1%20Max%20Standby%20Screen%20Blue%20A

The music & film industries are losing millions of pounds in revenue because of the widespread distribution of illegal MP3’s & MP4’s over the internet. Perhaps one of the only markets to ever be hit so hard by the revolution that we know as the Internet today is the music industry.  On a lighter note, we’ve seen an increase in digital MP4 players and MP4 video player. However, if you put this into comparison with the money lost from illegal MP4 downloads; there really isn’t much room for an argument.

Because of the extreme amounts of MP4’s which, after having been leeched from their original albums and distributed for ‘free’ over the Internet, many people have begun to believe that MP4’s are free and have adapted this practice into daily life.

In fact it is so easy to find a file on the Internet that most experienced ‘leechers’ can find a song or film within seconds through a Google search and have it loading a minute later on their Media Box Player. And the worst part is, they do so knowing that they are costing somebody big money, but couldn’t care less.

But let’s take a different scenario now – what would happen to the music industry if there was a global crackdown on illegal download sites, and it became incredibly difficult to find any MP4 files on the Internet that either wasn’t on a paid download site or tracked by a security firm? Some speculate that this would be the end of the MP4, that everything would crash and burn and that Digital MP4 players would become useless. Would it really?

For many people, music is not just a pastime; it is a way of life. Anyone who thinks that just because illegal music sites have been shut down that nobody would bother with MP4’s anymore are seriously misguided. There are various bands and artists who sell their albums and songs for ridiculously low prices on the Internet – including Radiohead, who decided that fans can pay whatever price they want for their songs online. Legal MP4 sales are still on the increase, whether you choose to believe this or not, and those who do so are not only supporting the music industry but the artists that they admire.

the-pirate-bay-logoIf a site such as the infamous ThePirateBay finally falls to justice, a lot of angry responses would be generated. People criticizing the law, the government, the police – you name it, they’ll hate it.  However, what effect does purging illegal MP4’s on the Internet actually have? It certainly wouldn’t destroy music and it really wouldn’t make that much difference on MP4’s. It would just set a new trend.

Those who want music on their iPods or phones will just have to buy it online. Those who would no longer use the Internet to obtain music would borrow CD’s from friends or go out and buy an album for themselves. To put it simply, Digital MP4 Players would still be as important as a stereo set, because the download industry is far too big to be shut down.

Macbook Pro a little one sided – M-Audio Advises Right USB Port

As with so many other issues out there, we always seem to have problems distinguishing between good and bad, light and dark, and in this case to all you Macbook USB Audio users, left and right. M-Audio has decided that it is best in this scenario to avoid using the left hand USB ports on a Mac pro, and speculation on the internet has led to a conclusion that an imbalance of power distributed to the left USB results in insufficient power to run a USB audio set. Thus, the power variation between USB ports on the left side has led to USB Audio devices only being supported on the opposite side, and a rather inconvenient warning that using left side ports may cause discrepancy’s in sound and dropped quality.
